Chute Family Cookbook features Zach Clark’s contemporary takes on Midwestern immigrant cuisine and Amy Burek’s simple recipes for complicated times. This collaborative project emerged during the pandemic when both authors reevaluated their relationships to cooking during a time when meals could not be shared. The resulting work combines Burek’s practical everyday meals with Clark’s comforting dishes, meant to be shared. The cookbook has double sided covers and is playfully split between both authors. Burek’s recipes are enhanced with whimsical illustrations and Clark’s are accompanied with images of Rebecca Ackerman’s corresponding food sculptures. Chute Family Cookbook is risograph printed by Chute Studio, a small press founded by Burek and Clark, located in the Bay Area.
