Festac ‘77 documents the 2nd World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture that occured in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1977. Thousands of artists, writers, performers, and participants gathered to form what was the largest pan-African event at the time. The event brought together Black and pan-African participants throughout the diaspora. This publication features both archival and new materials, essays, government surveys, and photographs, all detailing the festival’s extensive impact on culture.
