For this first issue of PRECOG we were interested in talking about the body as a site for both these negotiations. The body is at once a surface — a world-texture and part of the image-continuum—and an actor able to manipulate meanings and recontextualize representations. We were directed by an understanding of the body and phenomenological experience as the site where the baggage of history and stereotypes comes up against present-tense creative intelligence.
